Web Application Developer

This is your opportunity to fill a key role within a group of high-functioning individuals who are building a world-class and game-changing internet search and personalization service. We’re helping users Find the Future and we need you to help us build a scalable, high-performance system.

Our service platform is primarily Ruby on Rails on Linux. We have embraced agile software development methods and so should you. You’ll be able to work flexibly and from any location, though mostly in our Gastown offices with the rest of the team.

You should be a skilled coder with an exploratory and inventive mind. You should possess talent that has led you to create innovative solutions which have seen the light of day in the past, and you should be the kind of roll-up-the-sleeves Alpha Geek that gets attention when he voices his opinions. Your work either has an emphasis on user interaction and you understand how to QA your own work.

We require a well-rounded web application developer who has strong object-orient programming skills, is experienced with application frameworks, and who is also a very capable browser programmer.

Requirements

• five years of C++, Python, Java, or Ruby programming experience (or a combination thereof) in a LAMP (or similar) environment.
• proficient in PHP or PERL
• strong web application development experience
• experience with web application frameworks, major bonus if it’s Ruby on Rails
• strong programming skills, i.e.: XHTML, CSS, DOM, and Javascript
