Keep your finger on the Pulse of Music, Movies, and more..
Pulse is an application (currently only available within Facebook) that learns about you and the things you like, and allows you to use a simple, fun compatibility test to determine which of your friends you have likes and dislikes in common with. Once Pulse knows enough about you, it begins to send you ideas about new music, movies, books, and other things which it thinks you might be interested in.
Even when it’s wrong, that’s a good thing … if you don’t respond to new items and/or give them a “thumbs down” Pulse learns from your behaviour to make smarter decisions about what to send (and what not to send) to you in the future.
Pulse works because of the power of social networking, in essence using your friends as a filter to determine which things like DVDs and Concert Tickets to tell you about. Pulse does all of this without pestering your friends, requiring them to fill in lengthy forms, or asking them to share confidential personal data.
While quite a number of the applications within Facebook can be somewhat frivolous, we think Facebook is a uniquely advantageous place to keep abreast of the things which entertain, inform, and delight you… and we’ll keep building value upon value for as long they allow us.
